Over the past few weeks, the need to replace my network switch with a model designed to meet the requirements of digital music listening has gradually taken shape.
After careful analysis, I identified the AS6 model from LHY Audio as the device best suited to my needs.
It is not a budget switch, but neither is it among the most expensive ones. Its key strength lies in combining a very high build standard with a reasonable price.
My main requirement was to isolate the network connections dedicated to music playback from the rest of the data traffic on my home network. In particular, I needed both a high-quality SFP port (to connect my opticalRendu Deluxe, thereby achieving complete galvanic isolation of my iFi Pro iDSD Signature DAC) and several RJ45 ports to connect another DAC (the Wattson Audio Emerson Analog), as well as my audio server running Roon.
The final result is exhilarating. The effect is that the music playback chain now seems to disappear. There is only the music. Devices like the AS6 from LHY Audio possess the quality most valued by music-loving audiophiles: the ability to be imperceptible.
Special thanks go to LHY Audio’s support team, both via chat and email: courteous, responsive, and precise — and even willing to accommodate personal requests (such as providing cables in lengths not listed in the online shop). In short, I will definitely continue to keep an eye on what LHY Audio produces.
